More families reached:

We are in regular contact with approximately 25,000 survivors, around Rangoon and in the Delta. We are accessing the delta via privately rented boats; and we are centralizing distribution in target areas outside Rangoon and in the Delta. Daily, our organization grows in effectiveness and our reach expands.

More supplies provided:

We bring rice, water purification tablets, tarps and ropes for shelter, medicine, and sanitary supplies.

Medical Teams in Place:

A network of Burmese medical personnel is working with from bases we’ve established in the Delta. From these bases, volunteers radiate out to remote villages with medical supplies.

New Programs in Place:

Children are among the most vulnerable and most traumatized of the survivors. Many are orphaned or lost; and all are vulnerable to traffickers and military “recruitment.” We are establishing “child spaces” in hard hit communities to protect children and provide nurturance. In one center, donated art supplies have enabled an art therapy program.

The Rebuild Begins:

We’ve purchased four large pumps to reestablish safe water supplies in the delta, and have successfully cleared four wells which serve over 400 families. We will expand this program throughout the Delta.

In two devastated communities, we’ve begun home reconstruction with our community partners. Accelerating this work is critical in light of the coming monsoon.

Much Work Remains:

More than two weeks into this disaster, our teams are the first and only relief available to the people we meet.

Local Networks Grow:

Almost two hundred local volunteers now work shoulder to shoulder with our Burmese staff. The local character of our effort has allowed us to reliably deliver aid where foreign help has been blocked.
