Thekyin So Mei - Yale Spizzwinks and Gitameit Voices

On their 2007 world tour, the Spizzwinks(?) stopped in Rangoon, Burma (Yangon, Myanmar) and worked with students at the Gitameit Music School. Together, they performed the Burmese poem, “Thekyin So Mei” (Let’s Sing Together) to the tune of the American Spiritual “Keep Your Lamps” from the Gitameit group’s repertoire.

May 2006 - Gitapella at Mon Baptist Church

Gitapella performs different styles of jazz a cappella songs at Insein Mon Baptist Church in Insein Township, Yangon. Gitameit students also held a 5 day vocal workshop for young adults and music teachers from the Mon Baptist Church community.

Gitapella sings for Myanmar’s master pianist and composer Gita Luling Maung Ko Ko at his residence. Saya U Ko Ko has composed three songs with Burmese lyrics especially for Gitapella.

A jazz-rock, and a cappella concert at International Business Center to raise funds for Hlaing Thaya monastic schools. Performances by Gitameit jazz ensemble Los Guapos with Vincent Bullen, Gitapella, Sense & Soul, Face, Greenborn, and the Gitameit Voices. Featuring music by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Steely Dan, Miles Davis, Beck, Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock, Kyaw Swa Tun & Kyaw Kyaw, Fred Parris, Sai Nyi Nyi and Friends, The Beatles, as well as various traditional songs.
